Investigation of success rate of deciduous teeth proximal restoration materials with orthodontic hand

Abstract

dc:description

The purpose of study is to investigate the retention period of restorative materials with orthodontic band for the proximal cavity on primary molars. The investigation was proceeded through dental records of 68 pediatric patients with 79 orthodontic bands at Ajou Universith Dental hospital. The follow up period was relatively short of 3.9 months on average. Because this is the plot study. the average age of subjects was 6.5 years old. Most of restoration materals was amalgam with orthodontic band. The study showed outstanding success rate of 97.7% during follow-up period. Failure was caused by inappropriate adaptation of band, secondary caries and ectopic eruption of permanent tooth eruption. It was found that orthodontic band could be used as a successful supplement for proximal cavity restoration on primary molars due to highly improvement of retention. Also restoration with orthodontic band showed excellent reproduction of proximal contact ad reduction of treatment time. Therefore this procedure is highly recommended for the negative behavior children in dental clinic.
