Health-Related Quality of Life and Associated Factors in Patients with Hypertension
Abstract
dc:descriptionThis study was to examine the relationship between health-related quality of life (HRQOL) and associated factors in patients with hypertension. This study was a correlational survey using a convenience sampling. A total of 110 patients diagnosed hypertension were recruited from one health center in Gyeonggi-do. Used questionnaires were Cardiovascular Disease Specific -HRQOL questionnaire, Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale and Perceived Stress Scale. The patients' blood pressure were collected from their medical records. The obtained data was analyzed using IBM SPSS version 19.0. Hierarchical multiple regression analysis was performed with the predictors; gender, occupational status, depression, self-esteem and perceived stress. As the result, HRQOL was explained in the variance of 65.2%(R2=.652). Depression was a significant predictor. Based on these results, it is recommended to develop a intervention program or education, which can decrease depression. This may improve the HRQOL in the patients with hypertension.
