In this publication state-of-the-art microgenerators have been designed to possess nonlinear Duffing oscillator characteristics. It is shown by measurement and simulation that lead-zirconate-titanate may hence no longer be the first choice in material selection for a piezoelectric microgenerator. Polyvinylidene fluoride has been integrated in a piezoelectric microgenerator and identified as an extraordinarily promising material system for transducer applications being highly insusceptible to stretching induced material failure.
