These reported of a regular occurrence of certain perceptions at the beginning of the treatment. J.H.Schulz derived six exercises from this experience, through which the patient is said to get relaxed. Among others these exercises contain the idea to get warm and heavy arms and legs. Furthermore, physical reactions in the abdomen, thorax and the head will be initiated. Especially children show an open attitude towards the autogenic training. They learn to calm down and restore their mental and physical balance. The autogenic training is an important therapeutical method for the treatment of behavioural problems and psychosomatic symptoms. This study shows that the method can be successfully used mainly for concentration and school problems, nervousness and headache. In addition to this it has positive effects on hyperactive and anxious children. In certain cases the autogenic training supports other means like medication or behavioural treatments. Many children also use the autogenic training to better concentrate on examinations. Since the success of the autogenic training depends on the cooperation of the participants, the frequency of the exercises and the motivation of the children was analysed in this study. Moreover, the success resp. the difficulties of the specific exercises were examined. The results of the study show that the autogenic training helps children to relax and improve their concentration.","abstract_html":"The autogenic training was developed by J.H.Schulz in the period between 1912-1920 based on the experiences of his hypnosis patients.
