D. work is divided into two main projects. The first project is focused on the asymmetric synthesis of a very important class of natural products: lignans. Thirteen different lignans in high diastereo- and enantioselectivity have been synthesized. In the second project, a highly efficient asymmetric synthesis of a-(heteroaryl)alkylamines, based on nucleophilic 1,2-addition of heteroarenyllithium species to SAMP-/RAMP-hydrazones, has been developed.
