The aim was to observe neuroradiologic changes during the treatment, their concomitant clinical outcome, their prognosis and possible causes. We found 3 children with venous sinus thrombosis, one with a cerebral haemorrhage, both clotting problems obviously caused by asparaginase, and 6 with leukoencephalopathy caused by intrathecal methotrexate. The clotting problems appeared between the 18th and 40th day of treatment and only in the group of children with first manifestation. The cases with leukoencephalopathy were found between the 25th and 120th day of treatment and between the 190th and 290th day of treatment. Two of the venous sinus thrombosis, the cerebral haemorrhage and 4 of the leukoenzephalopathy were accompanied by clinical symptomatic like convulsions, paralysis or disturbance of consciousness, which was not completely reversible in only one case. Now we can say that severe cerebral complications appear during the treatment of leukaemia and non-Hodgkin´s lymphoma in childhood, which could seen early in the neuroradiologic imaging, sometimes before the clinical outcome.","abstract_html":"20 children with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (13 children with first manifestation of ALL and 4 children with relapsed manifestation of ALL) and lymphoblastic non-Hodgkin´s lymphoma (3 children) were investigated, using cranial CT and MRT during treatment according to the treatment protocols of the Berlin-Frankfurt-Munster studies in the years 1995 to 1998 prospective (17 children) and in the years 1990 to 1993 retrospective (3 children).
