The magnetization properties of Bi-2212/BaO2 were compared with pure Bi-2212 to evaluate the potential of the precipitates as effective artificial flux pinning centers. The influence of BaO2 additions on the transport properties of Ag-clad tape conductors was studied extensively. SEM micrographs, pole figure analyses, and transport properties in self-field and high fields up to 17 T suggested significant influence on the development of texture in Bi-2212 due to an addition of BaO2.
