Sichtbarmachung und Geschwindigkeitsmessung in Leeseitenwirbeln bei Überschallanströmung
Abstract
dc:descriptionPlans for future space transportation systems will follow new concepts. The two-stage-to-orbit vehicles (TSTO) are estimated to have a high potential concerning future demands. Their first stage is designed as a lifting body. It is a delta wing for hypersonic flight taking the orbital stage to higher altitudes. The hypersonic configuration ELAC was developed as a TSTO-vehicle in the Collaborative Research Centre SFB 253. Subject of the present study are the aerodynamic characteristics at supersonic speeds. At angles of attack flow separates at the leeside of the wing and causes vortices. These have a main influence on the aerodynamic properties. The vortices are investigated by non-intrusive measurement techniques. Separation and reattachment lines are visualized by oil flow patterns. The vortices theirselves are shown with the help of the vapour-screen method at supersonic speeds. A further development of Particle-Image Velocimetry (PIV) yields quantitative results of the velocity distribution over the leeside of the wing at supersonic speeds. This technique is applied in a set of different light sheets to obtain all three velocity components in a volume of the flow. This depicts the spatial development of the leeside vortices. All experimental results are compared to results from numerical simulations.
