Aufbau und elektrische Charakterisierung zwei- und dreidimensionaler Nanopartikelsysteme
Abstract
dc:descriptionThis thesis deals with two- and threedimensional assemblies of ligand stabilised gold nanoparticles and their distance dependent electric properties. The assemblies were built up by DNA-hybridisation, covalent attachment and electrostatic attraction. The thesis delineates the nanoparticle synthesis, the assembly into two- and three-dimensional particle systems, the structural characterisation via scanning probe and scanning electron microscopy and the investigation of the electric properties by direct current measurements and temperature dependent impedance spectroscopy. It is reported that two- and three-dimensional samples show thermally activated conductivity with Arrhenius-like behaviour. This allows for a calculation of activation energies which are significantly determined by inter-particle distances and the sample disorder.Further on the thesis describes impedance spectroscopical capacitance measurements performed on multilayers consisting of Au55-cluster double layers and silicon oxide layers with varying thickness. These cluster/SiOx-composite systems reveal a distinct thermally activated frequency dependence of the sample permittivity which is caused by interactions of the cluster layers via dipoles that can be formed in the double layers. The cluster/SiOx- systems show a significant increase of the permittivity with increasing number of layers and temperature dependent capacity measurements indicate a thermal activation of these polarisation processe inside the cluster layers.
