Hydrophilic and hydrophobic ligands had been done and used successfully for hierarchical self-assembly of dinuclear, triple-stranded, helicate-type complexes, which has been studied intensivly (Build-up and disaggregation, formation of dynamic combinatorial libraries and magnetochemical properties). These results could be revealed:1. Esterification could be done in good yield to build up ligands with different properties.2. Complexation with different divalent transition metals (Zn2+, Ni2+, Co2+ and Mn2+) was successful and lead to dinuclear triple stranded helicate type complexes. The equilibrium was always shifted to the dimer.3. Assembly of a DCC by mixing of two different ligands followed by time depending ESI-MS-investigation succeed.4. Synthesis and complexation of 5-chloro-8-hydroxyquinoline-7-carbaldehyde and 1-(8-hydroxyquinolin-7-yl)ethanone had been done and lead us to the dimeric species [Li3(L)6M2]+[OAc]-.5. Neutral complexes were realised by use of 1-alkyl-3-(8-hydroxyquinolin-7-yl)urea ligands and divalent transition metals. X-ray crystallographic investigations document that the M-M-M distances are less than 3 Å. Antiferromagnetic behaviour can be found for Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes and ferromagnetic behaviour for Mn(II) by magnetochemical investigations.","abstract_html":"Aim of this work was the synthesis of complexes with different divalent metals, starting from alkyl 8-hydroxyquinoline-7-carboxylate and 1-alkyl-3-(8-hydroxyquinolin-7-yl)urea and investigations of the monomer-dimer-equilibrium.
