Angstbewältigung, soziale Unterstützung und die perioperative Anpassung von chirurgischen Intensivpatienten

The present study investigates the relation between surgery related state anxiety, coping and social support on one hand and the postoperative adjustment on the other hand. The data of state anxiety, coping, social support and the postoperative adjustment were collected by standardized questionnaires. Differences between men and women in this context were evaluated. Over the course of time the surgery related state anxiety and its intensity show unexpected outcomes and differences between men and women. According to the expectations there was a significant negative coherence between the variables of postoperative adjustment and the pre- and postoperative state anxiety. The interaction between coping with surgical stress and the postoperative adjustment was relatively small. Positive correlations between social support and postoperative adjustment were assessed.
