Reaktionsmechanismen von Legierungselementen beim rekristallisierenden Glühen zur Schmelztauchveredelung von Mehrphasenstählen

Abstract

dc:description

In the steel industry, the development of high-strength multi-phase steels is a priority objective given the competition from materials of lower density, i.e., aluminium, magnesium or plastics. Improvements in passive vehicle safety deriving from a more widespread use of surface-coated multi-phase steels exhibiting tailor-made engineering properties can only be achieved through continuous advances in manufacturing technology. At the same time, demands on the surface quality of such steels are becoming increasingly exacting. Moreover, joining methods such as adhesive bonding with innovative high-strength structural adhesives place special requirements on the adhesive capability of the metallic corrosion protection layer. The present work compares annealed surface compositions of new developed steel substrates with their zinc wetting reaction. Basically, all steels substrates need a corrosion protection layer, independent whether they are conventional or advanced high strength steels grades. The investigations confirm that despite a protective gas atmosphere oxide combinations of alloying elements form on the steel surface and may restrict its hot-dip coating in terms of wetting and adhesion. Furthermore, characteristics of surface enrichments for alloying additions such as manganese, aluminium, silicon or chromium will be described in detail. Established surface analytical method as well as a new developed laboratory wetting simulator were applied. This application allows meaningful results of the hot-dip coating behaviour recently developed advanced high strength steels.
