Methodik der Sickerwasserprognose unter Anwendung eines inputdatenoptimierten Stofftransportmodells
Abstract
dc:descriptionAs a result of the Federal German Soil Protection Act (Bundes-Bodenschutz- und Altlastenverordnung – BBodSchV) of 1999 the scientific advisory committee “Bodenschutz beim BMU” identified a considerable demand for R&D in the creation and validation of calculative solute transport models for the unsaturated soil zone. Against that background the Federal Ministry for Education and Science (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung – BMBF) initiated a research association named “prognosis of the seepage based pollutant impact into the groundwater (seepage water prognosis)” to predict groundwater impact, coming from low polluted “recovery-waste”, recycling products or contaminated material. Risk assessment for groundwater in practice is usually based on a reduced parame-ter set, which comprises, besides abstract site specific information, merely analyses concerning solid contents and eluate concentrations (for example DIN 38414-4 S4). With this in mind the existing solute transport model SISIM was upgraded or revised related to the impact of dispersion, preferential flow, biodegradation and further essential parameter that way that the model further on accords to the needs in practice for a simple and user-friendly instrument for groundwater risk assessment. An important parameter is described by the definition of a functional pollutant input, which has to be derived from existing analysing data, normally eluate concentrations. For this transformation a methodology was developed within the scope of this thesis, which can achieve an important contribution in the controversial discussion about the translation of eluate concentrations into a representative seepage water concentration, adequate to the BBodSchV. The applicability of the method to the seepage water prognosis, demonstrated by the example of sulphate in detail, could be verified basically by the comparison with measured concentrations generated from extensive lysimeter tests, accomplished within the research association “Groundwater risk assessment”. In addition a mass based approach of assessment was developed, which is assignable on hardly soluble organic pollutants by considering a differentiated term of degradation. Important key results for praxis use arising from this thesis are:• Simple risk assessment for groundwater based on existing or prospective pollutant impact with seepage water into the groundwater;• Special reference to the needs in praxis by an optimised parameter set;• Risk assessment based on economic elution tests.
