  3. A layered sodium titanate as promising anode material for sodium ion batteries

Sodium ion batteries have recently received great attention for large-scale energy applications because of the abundance and low cost of sodium source. Although some cathode materials with desirable electrochemical properties have been proposed, it's quite challenging to develop suitable anode …

  7. Sodium reduction in snack foods via optimized microstructural design of sodium delivery system

Excessive sodium consumption can result in hypertension, diabetes, heart diseases, stroke and kidney diseases. Chips, extruded snacks, and tortilla/corn chips accounted for almost 56% of snacks retail sales in 2010 and hence it is important to target sodium reduction in this area. Past studies had …

  8. Sodium Channel Loss of Function Sensitizes Conduction to Changes in Extracellular Sodium Concentration

… of this dissertation, we address how changes in sodium concentration can alter conduction, despite conventional wisdom suggesting that it should not. We show that when sodium channels are impaired, such as by genetic mutation or pharmacologic blockade, that conduction is sensitized to changes in …

  10. Tissue Sodium in CKD Patients

Introduction: Sodium hemostasis is altered in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) due to long term loading, and sodium (23Na) can be deposited in the skin, muscle and skeleton. We measured 23Na content in these tissues of CKD patients, using 23Na magnetic resonance (MR) imaging. Methods: …
