  1. Geodesic Problems for Mobile Robots

    … Maximum Principle to analytically characterize geodesics for it. To obtain a notion of shortest, time is optimized. Finally, we present an algorithm for computing optimal coordination of two polygonal robots without differential constraints. Each robot has a reference point that must lie on a …

  3. Totally geodesic surfaces with arbitrarily many compressions

    A closed totally geodesic surface in the figure eight knot complement remains incompressible in all but finitely many Dehn fllings. In this thesis, we show that there is no universal upper bound on the number of such fillings, independent of the surface. This answers a question of Ying-Qing Wu.

  4. Design and an automated parametric study of geodesic domes

    An automated parametric investigation of geodesic domes is conducted in this study. A brief description of the stiffness method of matrix structural analysis is included in addition to a discussion of the fully-stressed design procedure via the stress-ratio method. Automated solution algorithms …

    … by accommodating more physics. Further, a geodesic (hexagonal-pentagonal) FDTD model that is more efficient, is easier to implement, and executes faster than latitude-longitude models has been recently developed. In this thesis, the magnetized cold plasma global latitude-longitude algorithm …

  6. Fast and exact geodesic computation using Edge-based Windows Grouping.

    Computing discrete geodesic distance over triangle meshes is one of the fundamental problems in computational geometry and computer graphics. As the “Big Data Era” arrives, a fast and accurate solution to the geodesic computation problem on large scale models with constantly increasing resolutions …

  7. Functional inequalities and the curvature dimension inequality on totally geodesic foliations

    … foliations with bundle-like metric and totally geodesic leaves, or shortly, totally geodesic foliations. Under a certain curvature condition, we obtain (1) Sobolev-isoperimetric inequalities, global Poincar\'e inqualities, and a lower bound for Cheeger's isoperimetric constant, (2) Poincar\'e …

  8. Motion Planning along Manifolds with Geodesic Convexity and Analytic Inverse Kinematics

    … configuration spaces. Our analysis utilizes geodesic convexity to achieve the same guarantees on Riemannian manifolds, and we leverage this to produce motion plans for mobile robots whose arms have unbounded revolute joints. In the second chapter, we specifically consider the problem of …

  9. INVESTIGATION OF RESISTIVE GEODESIC ACOUSTIC MODE IN THE EDGE OF STOR-M TOKAMAK

    A new resistive Geodesic Acoustic Mode (GAM) theory is developed by two-fluids analysis and resistive gyro-kinetic formulation in this thesis. An analytical expression is obtained for the resistive GAM frequency. This theory suggests a large collision frequency will prohibit the parallel current in …

  10. The Geodesic Gauss Map and Ruh-Vilms theorem for a Hypersurface in S^{n}

    We are interested to work on normal homogeneous space and in this space we calculated Live-Civita connection and we derived a useful equation 2.17. The Ruh-Vilms theorem is a statement about the Gauss map for a submanifold of R^{n+1} . Our aim is to prove, an isometrically immersed hypersurface f : …

    <p>We present an extension of Geodesics in Lorentzian Manifolds (Semi-Riemannian Manifolds or pseudo-Riemannian Manifolds ). A geodesic on a Riemannian manifold is, locally, a length minimizing curve. On the other hand, geodesics in Lorentzian manifolds can be viewed as a distance between …
