Studies of mercury in water, sediment, and fish in Mississippi: Concentrations, speciation, cycling, and isotopic composition
… and Hg isotopic composition in sediment from a cold seep from the northern Gulf of Mexico is discussed. Hg levels in the sediment from the cold seep were similar to background sites, and cold seeps are likely not significant sources of MeHg to Gulf waters.

Hitching a ride: A gastropod-associated microbiome community at a Hydrate Ride methane seep and impacts on local biogeochemical cycling
Exploration of cold seeps from geological, chemical, and biological perspectives has grown exponentially in recent decades since the first discovery of cold seeps in the 1980s. Symbiotic relationships, often rooted in geochemistry of the environment, have proven to be ubiquitous at cold seeps. …

Coupled cycling of metals with nitrogen and carbon in marine sediments
… rates of anaerobic oxidation of methane (AOM) in cold seep sediments collected at Cascadia Margin. Four forms of oxidized manganese and four forms of oxidized iron were added to treatments in order to evaluate how these altered rates of AOM. In contrast to previous work, addition of metals did not …

Earth’s oceanic oxygen history from Phanerozoic to Pleistocene glacial cycles: insights from the carbonate iodine-to-calcium proxy
… (~45 kyr) of these proxies in a core from a cold seep site on the southern Brazilian margin (26°40′S, 46°26′W, 475 m water depth). The two proxies are overall consistent, with porosity values generally low (< 10%) and I/Ca ranges between ~4 and ~6 µmol/mol throughout the core, suggesting that …

Deep submarine volcanoes in two geodynamic settings (Canary Basin and Gulf of Cadiz): morphology and shallow structure
… and morphometric studies of diverse hot vent and cold seep seafloor features in two different settings: the Canary Basin and the Gulf of Cadiz, both along the Atlantic margin. The study areas include forty volcanic hydrothermal mounds (M00 to M45) in the central area of the Canary Basin at water …
