The Structure of Baryon Resonances
… time to systems with multiple quark- model like baryon states. By considering the effect of a second bare basis state on both the infinite-volume poles, and finite-volume energy spectrum, we gain a unique intuition into the relationship between these two regimes. Finally, we apply the multiple …

Octet and decuplet baryon masses at finite temperature
Octet and decuplet baryon masses are studied at finite temperature in the framework of finite energy QCD sum rules. In all cases it is found that the mass stays fairly constant over a range of temperatures, increasing sharply near the critical temperature for deconfinement Tc.

Hadroproduction of Charmed Baryon Lambda ---> Proton, Kaon, Pion
Production of the charmed baryon $\Lambda\sb{\rm c}$ has been observed in n-nucleus collisions at the Proton East area of FNAL. A 5$\sigma$ peak was seen in the decay mode $\Lambda\sbsp{\rm c}{+}$ $\to$ pK$\sp-\pi\sp+$ (and charge congugate). The lifetime was determined to be consistent with the …

Measurement of the Λb baryon mass in the ATLAS experiment

Search for Baryon Number Violation in Tellurium-130 with CUORE
… experimental analysis undertaken to search for baryon number violation in 130Te using the data acquired by the CUORE detector. The conservation of the baryon number in the Standard Model relies on an accidental symmetry rather than being deduced from fundamental principles. If there is evidence …

Intergalactic baryon enrichment and implications for galaxy evolution at high redshift
In this thesis we present several surveys of heavy element absorber characteristics at high redshift, gauging properties of diffuse intra- and intergalactic gas in the first several Gyr of the Universe. At z ~ 3.5, we study chemical abundances of Lyman limit systems (LLSs) and evaluate their …

A measurement of the antiproton proton going to antilambda baryon lambda baryon and antiproton proon going to antisigma 0 lambda plus c.c. reactions at 1.726 GeV/c
The reactions $\bar pp\to\bar\Lambda\Lambda$ and $\bar pp\to\bar\Sigma\sp0\Lambda+c.c.$ were investigated at an average antiproton momentum of 1.726 $\pm$ 0.001 GeV/c using the Low Energy Antiproton Ring (LEAR) at CERN. Total and differential cross sections, hyperon polarizations, and spin …

A study of distances and the Baryon Acoustic Oscillations in curved spacetimes.
The Baryon Acoustic Oscillations offer a powerful method of measuring cosmological distances and the expansion history of the Universe. Understanding of the BAO comes from linear physics and allows for accurate predictions of the BAO scale. This will result in accurate measurements of the …

MEASUREMENT OF THE MAGNETIC AND ELECTRIC DIPOLE MOMENTS OF THE $\LAMBDA$ BARYON AT LHCB
… that possibility through the study of the \Lz baryon: an EDM observation with the current sensitivities would constitute evidence of CP violation beyond the SM. Moreover, the magnetic dipole moment (MDM) of the \Lz baryon and the $\bar{\Lz}$ antibaryon will be measured simultaneously, allowing …

A measurement of proton anti-proton going to anti-lambda lambda baryon near threshold
Using antiprotons from the Low Energy Antiproton Ring at CERN, an investigation of the reaction $\bar pp\to \bar\Lambda\Lambda$ at threshold has been completed. This work includes a thorough scan of the 2 MeV region where a hint of a cross section resonance had been observed. No such resonance is …

QCD equation of state of hot deconfined matter at finite baryon density : a quasiparticle perspective
… chemical potentials. In this way, nonzero net baryon-density effects in the equation of state are self-consistently attainable. Furthermore, a chain of approximations based on formal mathematical manipulations is presented which outlines the connection of the quasiparticle model with the …

Baryon-to-Meson Ratios in Jets from Au+Au and p+p Collisions at 200 GeV
… and the LHC reveal a significant enhancement in baryon-to-meson yield ratios at intermediate $p_{\rm{T}}$ in high-energy nuclear collisions relative to $p$+$p$ collisions. Strong hydrodynamic expansion and parton recombination within the QGP are believed to be responsible for this enhancement. …

An Equation of State with the Complete SU(3)f Baryon Octet for Neutron Star Mergers

The relativistic Schrödinger equation and its application to pseudoscalar meson baryon scattering in a broken SU(3) symmetry model
The problem of pseudosca1ar meson baryon scattering is discussed within the framework of the relativistic Schrodinger equation and in the four lowest partia1 waves. The driving force (potential) is obtained by ca1culating the allowed single particle exchange processes for which thee~oharged …
