  1. Mechanisms of Particle Separation in Aerodynamic Air Cleaning

Systematic studies on the bunker were recommended. These studies could be conducted by comparing different physical models with the assistance of CFD simulations. In CFD simulations, user defined functions were strongly recommended for calculating the particle separation efficiency.

  2. Improving the indoor air quality (IAQ) through application of the air cleaning technologies for offices building simulated in environmental chamber

Indoor air quality (IAQ) is very important issue in residential and commercial buildings, because human spend almost 90% of their life indoor. IAQ problems effect on the health of the occupants, and lead to reduction of the efficiency and output in workplaces. The main objective of this study is to …

  3. Compact, Self-Cleaning Wet Electrostatic Precipitators

Clean air is essential for public health, but current air filters often come with trade-offs— they remove harmful particles effectively but cause high pressure drops and need frequent replacements. In this project, we developed a new kind of air-cleaning system. Our design allows air to flow freely …

  4. A study of carbonyl formation within an innovative indoor air pollution abatement system

… the pre-prototype unit of an innovative indoor air pollution abatement system which used catalytic ozonation as a mechanism for oxidation and removal of organic contaminants. The system was evaluated for carbonyl production when the system was challenged with chemicals used to simulate polluted …

  5. MODEL-BASED TESTING AND EVALUATION OF SORPTION MEDIA FOR REMOVING VOLATILE ORGANIC COMPOUNDS IN INDOOR AIR

… in-depth understanding of the performance of the air cleaning technologies that address VOCs is important. Although many studies have been conducted to evaluate the performance of air cleaning devices, most of them were performed at elevated concentration level (~ppmv). The performance of the …

  6. The effect of indoor air filtration on contaminant distribution and occupant exposure

Poor indoor air quality, driven by the presence of airborne contaminants, can have a significant effect on human health particularly given that we typically spend upwards of 80% of our time indoors. A potential solution for improving indoor air quality is to filter the air inside buildings, thereby …

  7. Presence and Stability of SARS-CoV-2 on Indoor Surfaces and Masks

… losses. COVID-19 is acknowledged to transmit via air, but whether it is capable of transmitting via contaminated surfaces, also known as fomites, remains controversial. The overarching goal of this study was to investigate the presence and stability of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, …

  8. Airborne Dissemination of Antibiotic Resistance Genes Near Farms and Effectiveness of Ionization Against Airborne Bacteria in a Classroom

The Covid-19 pandemic heightened attention to airborne microorganisms and their widespread impacts. This dissertation examines two facets about airborne microorganisms: (1) dissemination of antimicrobial resistance in the environment and (2) ionization for disinfection of indoor air. Antimicrobial …
