Experiments to develop High Q and tunable superconducting coplanar resonators applicable for quantum bit technology
… dependence for the fundamental, second and third harmonics. Frequency shift of hundreds of linewidths are obtained. Coplanar resonator are fabricated and measured with current control lines built on chip, and these have shown to produce frequency shifts of tens of Kilohertz.

Elastic and inelastic X-ray scattering studies of the low dimensional spin-1/2 quantum magnet TiOCl
… discommensurations. The observation of the third harmonics enabled a careful characterization of the underlying real space superstructure. We find that all of the observed scattering can be reproduced by a one dimensional long-wavelength modulation of a locally dimerized structure.

Adaptive internal model principle-based control for tremor suppression and sinusoidal signal tracking
… 81.3%, and 80.8% for the first, second, and third harmonics, respectively, while preserving voluntary motion by 85.3%. These results are experimentally validated on the bench-top motor setup. An adaptive Two-Degree-of-Freedom control algorithm is then developed to suppress tremor signals with …

Phase noise and spur reduction in an array of direct digital synthesizers
… spurs demonstrate that the second and third harmonics are highly correlated across channels for all frequencies tested. This means that there is no benefit to using an array of DDSs for the problems of in-band quantizer nonlinearities. As a result, alternate methods of harmonic spur …

Using Intrinsic 3rd Harmonics for Large Synchronous Generator Insulation Fault Condition Monitoring
… stator insulation faults using intrinsic third harmonics. Based on two-port network theory, a mathematical model is derived and presented in this thesis. Data from offline experiments has been analyzed to verify the technique’s effectiveness. Additionally, online data collected from …

Deep structure ultrasound imaging using fundamental and third harmonic coded excitation techniques
… combining Golay coding with fundamental and third harmonic 1, 3 chirps with resolution enhancement compression (REC) and frequency compounding, increases the axial resolution, lateral resolution, penetration depth and the contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) for an ultrasonic imaging system. The …
