Archean detrital zircons in the Proterozoic Vishnu Schist of the Grand Canyon, Arizona : implications for crustal architecture and Nuna reconstructions
U-Pb dating of 1035 detrital zircons from twelve spatially-distributed samples of the Paleoproterozoic Vishnu Schist reveals a bimodal 207Pb/ 206Pb age probability diagram with peaks at 1.8 Ga and 2.5 Ga. Surprisingly, only 13% of detrital zircon ages overlap with the published depositional age …

Petrography of Precambrian iron formation, Pembina County, North Dakota
… interlayered with quartz-biotite schist of Precambrian age. The core recovered from the Akra site contained mineral assemblages of the greenschist and amphibolite facies of regional metamorphism, the metamorphic grade increasing with depth. The mineral assemblages of the Hensel core indicate …

An Investigation of 3D Seismic Deep Basement Events in Osage County, Oklahoma
… of the work area spans base of the Permian to Precambrian formations, with basement depth averaging around 5000 ft in the area of the 3D seismic surveys. Cores spanning Precambrian to Pennsylvanian were examined in the area of the 3D seismic surveys. Hydrothermal minerals were observed in …

The geology of the Newburg-South Westhope oil fields, Bottineau County, North Dakota
<p>The Newburg and South Westhope oil fields of the northeastern part of the Williston Basin are essentially one continuous secondary stratigraphic oil trap as determined by well log studies. The reservoir rocks in the two fields are carbonates present near the top of the Mississippian Ratcliffe …

Kaolinitic weathering zone on Precambrian basement rocks, Red River Valley, eastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota
… Project has provided new information on the Precambrian basement of eastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota. Basement rocks in this area consist of intermediate to felsic coarse-grained massive or gneissic rocks, and intermediate to mafic metavolcanic and metasedimentary schists. The …
