  1. Modeling of materials with internal variables using a thermomechanical approach

… A phenomenological formulation of polarization reversal is proposed, and then a fully-coupled thermo-electro-mechanical model is developed. It is shown that the theory developed can describe the electromechanical behavior of piezoceramics well.

  2. UNCOVERING FUNDAMENTAL PHYSICS OF ENERGY MATERIALS WITH QUANTUM MECHANICS, MOLECULAR DYNAMICS, AND APPLIED MACHINE LEARNING

… uncover, for the first time, the mechanism for polarization reversal in this novel next-generation ferroelectric material. We then develop new kinetic theory to describe the uncovered anomalous switching behavior that can be expanded to other similar phenomena across disciplines. Overall, these …

  3. Ab Initio study of dynamically tunable catalysis for carbon dioxide reduction

… dynamic modification of catalytic behavior via polarization reversal in a ferroelectric substrate (i.e tunable catalysis) in order to reduce the energy required for these reactions. Dynamically Tunable Catalysis (catalysis enhanced by real-time changes in the surface chemistry of the catalyst) …

  4. An investigation into six-fold domain wall vertices in improper ferroelectrics, and their potential as one dimensional pn-junctions

… fields that arise due to the development of a polarization (≈ 1020 cm-3). Extracted carrier mobilities of hundreds of cm2Vs-1 (up to and above 670 cm2Vs-1) are somewhat surprising and provide further evidence that charged domain walls possess drastically different physical properties from the …

  5. Carrier manipulation in graphene/ferroelectric hybrid structures

… graphene charge carriers and the ferroelectric polarization. The experimental methods utilized to overcome these challenges are introduced for device fabrication and characterization. The resulting graphene/PbZr0.2Ti0.8O3 hybrid structures presented here exhibit bidirectional interdependency …
