Graphene and graphane functionalization using hydrogen and nitrogen electronic optical and vibrational signatures
Hydrogen is added to Graphene in various compositions and configurations to modify the band structure to produce a suitable band gap for microelectronic applications. Optical and vibrational spectra are calculated as a means of characterization. Calculations performed using DFT and Quantum Espresso.

Hydrogenation of monolayer graphene in the diamond anvil cell and supercritical phenomena in methane
… synthesise fully-hydrogenated graphene, termed graphane. This thesis describes an alternative method of hydrogenating graphene by heating the material in an atmosphere of molecular hydrogen under high pressure (2.6 – 6.5 GPa) in a diamond anvil cell. The hydrogen content of functionalised samples …

Electronic, Optical, and Thermal Properties of Reduced-Dimensional Semiconductors
… derivatives, i.e., graphyne and graphane, are found to be strongly modified by quantum confinement, making them qualitatively different from the usual Rydberg series. However, their parity and optical selection rules are preserved. Thus a one-parameter hydrogenic model is applied …
