  1. Effective Width of Floor Systems for Application in Seismic Analysis

Effective width coefficients for floor systems have been developed for use in the analysis of frames subjected to lateral seismic loads. The results cover a wide range of the governing nondimensional parameters, and are applicable to floor slabs with supporting beams as well as to flat slabs.

  2. Sandwich Plate System Bridge Deck Tests

… lag in the half scale bridge was studied, and an effective width to be used for design purposes was determined. The effective width of the half scale simple span sandwich plate bridge deck was determined to be the physical width. Finally, supplemental research is recommended and conclusions are …

  3. Electron transport in confined structures in very high mobility GaAs in perpendicular magnetic fields

… 2DEG. By using QPCs with different lithographic widths and varying the voltage applied on the gates, we can control the width of the conduction channel from ~3000 to ~100 nm. The width of the channel is estimated from the low magnetic field dependence of the conductance through the QPC. We study …

  8. Finite element modelling of shear connection for steel-concrete composite girders

The main objective of this thesis is to develop effective 3-dimensional finite element models to trace the behaviour of headed stud shear connectors in composite girders with solid slabs and precast hollow core slabs. The finite element package ABAQUS was used to conduct the analysis. Push-off …
