  1. Craniofacial variation, integration, and evolutionary diversification in baboons

… baboon crania. Twenty-five three-dimensional cranial landmarks on six-hundred and sixty four baboon crania from seven species were digitized. Forty-seven linear distances, chosen to cover the skull with minimal redundancy, were calculated from these coordinate data.

  2. Using 3-D Geometric Morphometric Techniques to Further Understand the Relationship Between Neanderthals and Homo sapiens

… in crania of Neanderthals and Homo sapiens. Cranial landmarks were digitized on the cranial vault (cranial vault analysis) and midfacial area (alpha triangulation analysis) of the specimens. Digitizing cranial landmarks preserves the information inherent in those landmarks relative to other …

  4. Ancestry determination using geometric morphometrics

… measured by linear distances between certain cranial landmarks. In this research, three-dimensional Procrustes based geometric morphometric methods are employed to investigate whether these techniques can classify ancestry in a forensic context using the cranium. Cranial landmark and …

  5. Neural and endocrine control of mating behavior in selected mating lines of chickens and quail

… spatial relationships between several external cranial landmarks and brain nuclei were established. The data were employed to develop a multiple regression predictive equation. The utilization of three independent variables (external measurements) in the regression equation was found not to be …
