Compressive buckling of a clamped circular plate on an elastic foundation not in attachment
… fourth order which were solved in terms of the Bessel functions. The relations between the foundation modulus and the buckling load were found from two characteristic equations expressed in terms of Bessel functions.

ΜΕΛΕΤΗ ΤΩΝ ΡΙΖΩΝ ΜΙΚΤΩΝ ΣΥΝΑΡΤΗΣΕΩΝ BESSEL
… OR NOT OF THE COMPLEX AND REAL ZEROS OF MIXED BESSEL FUNCTIONS, MV(Z)=F(Z)JV(Z)+G(Z)JV'(Z), OF FIRST KIND AND ORDER V (IN GENERAL COMPLEX). THE MULTIPLICITY OF THE ZEROS OF THE DERIVATIVES OF BESSEL FUNCTIONS JV(S)(Z), S=1,2,3,4 IS ALSO EXAMINED. FOR THE FUNCTION JV''(Z), WHICH IS A SPECIAL …

An Isoperimetric Inequality for Fundamental Tones of Free Plates
… the fundamental modes of the unit ball as trial functions. These solutions are a linear combination of Bessel and modified Bessel functions.

Asymptotic Formulas For Large Arguments Of Hypergeometric-type Functio
Hypergeometric type functions have a long list of applications in the field of sciences. A brief history is given of Hypergeometric functions including some of their applications. A development of a new method for finding asymptotic formulas for large arguments is given. This new method is applied …

Axisymmetric Rayleigh-Benard convection
… the matching with a local solution in terms of Bessel functions is carried out. In Chapter 4, the effect of rotation is incorporated and the numerical scheme of Chapter 2, is modified to solve the appropriate linearised equations. In Chapter 5, the non-linear amplitude equation is derived for …

Group integrals in chaotic quantum systems
… group integrals represent the generalization of Bessel functions to matrix and supermatrix spaces. Thereby we derive exact expressions for the one and two--point eigenvalue correlator of a random matrix model. The model consists of a sum of two random matrices. One of them is diagonal and models …

Lattice points in disks and strongly convex domains
… oscillatory integrals and more specifically for Bessel functions. After examining the geometrical method for precisely counting the number of lattice points inside a disk of radius R, we use the Poisson Summation Formula and the Bessel function results to prove initial bounds on the lattice point …

Global in time existence of Sobolev solutions to semi-linear damped sigma-evolution equations in L^q scales
… we would like to apply the theory of modified Bessel functions, Faà di Bruno's formula and Mikhlin-Hörmander multiplier theorem in the treatment of linear problems. In addition, some of modern tools from Harmonic Analysis play a fundamental role to investigate results for the global existence …
-
A computer model for sound propagation around conical seamounts
… Global Matrix approach is used. The radial eigenfunctions are expressed as functions of normalized Hankel and Bessel functions, and the linear system that arise is organized in an unconditionally stable matrix. The results show a perturbation zone behind the seamount. It is bounded by two lines …

Optimal rejection of nonstationary narrowband disturbances for flexible systems
… in terms of a general series representation. Bessel functions and their properties are employed to define an equivalent finite-dimensional quasi-stationary disturbance signal.

Ricci Curvature of Noncommutative Three Tori, Entropy, and Second Quantization
… expansion for the perturbed Laplacians on both functions and $1-$forms. On the other hand, in noncommutative geometry one also wants to get a good notion of an action functional which depends only on the spectrum of $D$, called spectral action functional. It is known that such a functional can …

Guided modes and resonant transmission in periodic structures
… we establish a fundamental framework using Bessel functions for the analysis of guided modes, and prove the existence and nonexistence in structures in analogy to results for slabs. We provide a new existence result of nontrivial embedded guided modes, which are stable with respect to the …

Investigation of Control Concepts for High-Speed Induction Machine Drives and Grid Side Pulse-Width Modulation Voltage Source Converters
… of the converter voltage harmonics based on Bessel functions to achieve the compliance with the grid standard of IEEE-519. Voltage-oriented control with active damping is used to control the active front end converter with LCL-filter. A simple method is proposed to design the required …

The Fourier-Bessel Series and Hard Edge Limits
The universality classes defined by the Airy and Bessel kernels are two of the most fundamental in random matrices and growth models more generally. Broadly speaking, one often encounters the Airy kernel when studying models where the relevant eigenvalues or particles are unbounded, and the Bessel …

Light scattering models for real-time bacteria characterisation in water based environments.
… of the Rayleigh-Debye approximation (mRDG) with Bessel functions we proceed to formulate an extended version of the arbitrary layers particle for ellipsoidal forms. An application of this n-layer generalised mRDG to the bacterial domain optical properties via simulation, re-establishes the limits …

Valence losses at interfaces in aluminium alloys
… plotted against distance from the interface. Bessel functions were then fitted to this plot to give characteristic values. These values represented how well the optimal interface position had been chosen, the comparative decay of the interface plasmon on each side of the interface and the …

A measurement of the neutron diffusion parameters of water at different temperatures by the pulsed method
… buckling 2.405 = first zero of Jo Bessel Functions R = radios of cylinder H = height of cylinder ∈ = extrapolation distance The extrapolation distance ∈ was calculated from ∈ =0.71 λtr where λtr = mean free path of neutrons in water The extrapolation distance …

Orbital stability in a classical pilot-wave system
… appearing in the stability problem in terms of Bessel functions of complex order, and thus facilitates asymptotic expansions of the stability problem in various limits. Within the experimental parameter regime, we demonstrate that in a rotating frame, circular orbits destabilise only via …

Projected Angular Statistics for Large-scale Structure Cosmology
… be evaluated analytically in terms of modified Bessel functions. We develop a Python code for computation of the angular power spectra with these techniques, which is substantially more efficient than any existing full-sky approach. We also carefully discuss the correspondence between our …

Umbral Calculus A Different Mathematical Language
… Umbral Method, relevant in the theory of special functions, for the solution of ordinary and partial differential equations, including those of fractional nature. It will provide an account of the theory and applications of Operational Methods allowing the "translation" of the theory of special …
