The Dynamic Stability of The Stratosphere and Mesosphere (Atmosphere)
The normal modes of large-scale atmospheric motions have been examined in a spherical quasi-geostrophic model extending from the surface up to 80 km to investigate the stability of zonal motions in the stratosphere and mesosphere. Two sets of calculations were performed.

A Climatological Analysis of Upper-Tropospheric Velocity Potential Fields using Global Weather Reanalysis, 1958-2020
… useful in identifying areas of rising or sinking atmospheric motions on varying temporal scales (e.g., weekly, seasonal, interannual) especially in the global tropics. These areas are associated with enhancement (rising motion) or suppression (sinking motion) of tropical convection and subsequent …

Studies of solar white-light flares and small-scale magnetic structures observed in the near infrared
Using the most advanced infrared imaging technology as developed by NJIT, detailed study of solar white-light flares and small magnetic structures, such as faculae and pores, are presented in this dissertation. The investigations focus on near-infrared observations at 1.56 um, which are good proxy …

The spectral characteristics of wind-farm power output
… (.10 minutes), wind-power variability is due to atmospheric turbulence. Power fluctuations at time scales such as these are important for maintaining frequency regulation on the power grid. This thesis presents a holistic, physics-based approach to modeling the spatio-temporal structures of the …
