Radical additions of hydrocarbons, ethers and acetals to alkenes via allyl transfer reaction: A new chain reaction for C-H bond functionalization
… of hydrocarbons via a free-radical based allyl transfer reaction using various allyl bromide substrates has been previously studied. The work described in this dissertation focuses on the replacement of Br by phthalimido-N-oxyl (PINO ) which helps make this chemistry environmentally …

Reactions of cyclomanganated compounds
… with ally1 isothiocyanate gave simply 2-allyl-4-methoxyacetophenone by allylation of the orthomanganated starting compound. Allyl bromide behaved similarly. However, allyl bromide and ethyl bromide when reacted with the cyclomanganated chalcone 54 gave furanone products (e.g. 190 and …

The Ortho Lithiation of Tertiary Benzamides
… s- or n-BuLi-TMEDA followed by D(,2)O, MeOD, allyl bromide or CO(,2) to give ortho substituted products in yields of 21-87%. A mechanistic study indicated lithiation of the ortho position is direct rather than the result of rearrangement of an initially formed (alpha)-aza anion.

Synthesis and reactivity studies of high-nuclearity carbido carbonyl clusters of heptarhenium-iridium and decaruthenium
… and PPh$\sb3),$ and with triphenylsilane and allyl bromide to form the oxidative addition products ($\rm Re\sb7C(CO)\sb{21}Ir(H)(CO)(SiPh\sb3)\rbrack \sp{2-}$ and ($\rm Re\sb7C(CO)\sb{21}Ir(\eta\sp3C\sb3H\sb5)(CO)\rbrack \sp-.$ The reactivities at iridium parallel those of the indenyl complex …

New Methods for the Formation of Methyl Bearing Stereogenic Centers via Methylketene Dimerization and Free Radical Additions to Allyl Bromides
… addition/elimination reaction involving allyl bromides. The first method, the asymmetric dimerization of methyl ketene, followed by an asymmetric aldol reaction and the appropriate functional group manipulations enabled us to construct the (2S, 4S, 6S) trimethylnonyl subunit found in the …

Hydrocarbon Functionalization via a New Free Radical-Based Condensation Reaction
A new free radical chain process for the allylation of hydrocarbons and some other substrates utilizing substituted allyl bromides (R-H + C=C-C-Br -> R-C-C=C + HBr) has been developed. Good to excellent yields were observed in all cases. Kinetic chain measurements and competition experiments were …
