ROLE OF 12/15 LIPOXYGENASE EXPRESSION IN LIPID METABOLISM, ATHEROSCLEROSIS AND INSULIN RESISTANCE
Abstract
dc:description.abstract12/15 lipoxygenase (LO) is a member of a family of enzymes that can catalyze the stereospecific incorporation of oxygen into polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), forming a series of bioactive lipid mediators. Though lipid mediators produced by 12/15LO have the potential to affect lipid metabolism and atherosclerosis, the role of 12/15LO expression in these processes has not been elucidated.
