Abstract
dc:description.abstractIn the production of most farm crops, emphasis is placed on yield per acre. Other things being equal, the higher the yield er acre the lower the per unit cost of production. But in the case of flue-cured tobacco, emphasis is placed primarily on quality. Yield per acre is, of course important, but it must be sacrificed if and when it is obtained at the expense of quality. In the production of flue-cured tobacco both yield and quality play equally important roles. The better the quality of the crop the higher the price per pound, and the higher the yield of good quality tobacco the greater the value per acre.
