The master thesis analyzes the factors determining the unemployment rate in Lithuanian municipalities. The aim of the work is to evaluate the factors determining the unemployment rate in the Lithuanian municipalities. The first part of the work, based on the analysis of the scientific literature, discusses the significance of the unemployment rate and its importance in the municipalities. In order to assess the factors determining the unemployment rate, the factors determining the unemployment rate are singled out on the basis of the scientific literature. Empirical research analysis of the factors determining the unemployment rate is also performed. The second part of the work presents the methodology of empirical research of the factors determining the unemployment rate and the evaluation model. In particular, the stages of the research are revealed. After the analysis of scientific literature and empirical research, the factors determining the unemployment rate used in the research and the indicators reflecting them, are defined. During the assessment of the factors determining the unemployment rate, an empirical model was developed which makes it possible to assess the determinants of the unemployment rate in the municipalities. In the third part of the work, the tendencies of the change of the unemployment rate and its determining factors in the Lithuanian municipalities in 2013-2018 are analyzed. Before evaluating the results of the regression analysis of the panel data, four model evaluation tests were performed. After developing the assessment model, a regression analysis of the factors determining the unemployment rate is performed and it is determined which factors have an impact on the unemployment rate during the research period. The obtained results of the research revealed that out of the six selected factors (foreign direct investment, material investment, emigration, immigration, average wages and the number of operating economic entities), only one factor determining the unemployment rate in the Lithuanian municipalities was confirmed. The unemployment rate is determined by the number of operating economic entities and a negative direction of impact has been identified, which means that the unemployment rate decreases as the number of operating economic entities increases.
