Abstract
dc:descriptionAnalysis of Political Ideas in the Discussions about 1922 and 1992 Constitutions for Lithuania: Continuity or Establishment of New State? The main academic provocation of this bachelor thesis rest upon assumption that there are fundamental ideological differences between interwar period and nowadays Lithuania. However in order to justify that, there should be overcame misleading idea about all types of continuity of Lithuania’s state from 1918 to these days. This sort of idea clearly comes from the logic of lawful mind- based explanation which was used while proving Lithuania’s right to regain independence from USSR. The author of this writing assignment wants to stress the difference between lawful Lithuania’s continuity (which is absolutely unquestionable) and ideological continuity (which is very questionable). In order to demonstrate different ideological basements of interwar and today’s Lithuania this paper focuses on discussions held while preparing 1922 and 1992 constitutions. Word “discussions” reveals methodological issue of this analysis- using history of ideas method, there are shown which ideas were articulated not only in the final debates of constitution but also during “pre” and with some exceptions “post” phases of establishments of 1922 and 1992 constitutions. Bachelor thesis consists of seven main parts and conclusion. In the parts of the first and third author presents contextual factors (international political situation, inner institutional framework and top individuals) which indirectly formed some aspects of 1922 and 1992 constitutions. Later, second and fourth parts crystallized main ideas, find in already done analysis of constitutions, which helps to prioritize basic ideas implemented into state’s life after constitutions were adopted. While part number five tells first insights about ideological differences between 1918-1940 and nowadays Lithuania, sixth and seventh parts deal with unique analysis (newspapers, stenographs, constitutional committees’ documents) of both- 1922 and 1992 constitutions creations. At the end of the paper conclusions presents findings and shows exact ideological differences which led to different types of Lithuanian states.
