Vaikų pasižyminčių autizmo sindromu, ugdymo patirtis Airijoje /

The present Bachelor thesis analyses children with autistic disorder educational possibilities in Ireland. A reasearch aim has been formulated in order to study autistic pupils educational experiences and opportunities of the Irish education system, indicating teaching difficulties faced by special educators, as well as the most effective methods, strategies and therapies applied for development abilities of autistic pupils. The research has been carried out by applying an interview method. 5 special educators, who work in Irish educational institutions and educate autistic pupils, have participated in the interview and could answer the questions about their experience. The aim of the interview was to find out what the difficulties were encountered by special educators within communication to autistic pupils, what are the most effective teaching methods they apply for language and behavior, narrowness of interest and lack of motivation, activity organization, difficulties to assimilate new skills and use them in practice, difficulties to understand rules and orders. The key aim was to find out the development trends of autistic pupils in Ireland. Content analysis has been carried out on the basis of the obtained data. By means of the research it has been determined that, according to the opinion of special educators, the most effective teaching methods are modified Portage programme , structured teaching, ABA and TEACCH methods. Major problems causing difficulties for successful education of autistic pupils should be emphasized: aggression, failure to communicate, speak, use of the language in an adequate manner, avoidance of contact, the fear of the everday environtmental changes. It is noted that proffesionals pay special attention to every pupils individualities, their strengths and weaknesses. While organizing autistic pupils education, special educators take into account of the main educational areas: language, the formation of appropriate behavior and social interaction skills. Educators note that in order to find the way how to interact with autistic disorder children they use acceptable ways of communication - sign language, visual aids, tailored communication programs.
