Holokaustas „Tarptautinio Bakalaureato“ DP istorijos programoje: vaizdavimas ir problematika /

The Holocaust and its depiction have received a lot of attention and research. The topic of the Holocaust in the context of education is popular and relevant both internationally (Kovač, 2021, McKernan & Oldham, 2019) and nationally (Naudžiūnienė, 2017, 2019). However, the subject of the Holocaust in the history subject of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program is only studied internationally (Kovač, 2021, McKernan & Oldham, 2019). This lack of research on the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program at the national level prevents not only the formation of a coherent image of the educational system in Lithuania, but can also cause dissonance in the implementation and regulation of various methodological and content changes on a national scale, in the case of General Education Programs. This investigation was carried out by interviewing the teachers who were involved in teaching history as a subject in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. These teachers teach the topic of the Holocaust and as such were able to provide information about the situation of this theme in the International Baccalaureate educational system in Lithuania. The research found that teachers face various challenges and cannot fully realize the goals they set for the topic of the Holocaust. The teachers also revealed that they face both systemic and individual challenges, such as: lack of time devoted to studying the topic, ethical and individual limitations, lack of importance of the topic when considering the final exams of the International Baccalaureate. The research also investigated and discovered what materials and sources teachers use, what goals they set during the educational process, and what expectations they have for students in order to reveal the topic of the Holocaust.
