Holokausto vaizdavimas Icchoko Mero ankstyvojoje kūryboje /
Abstract
dc:descriptionThis bachelor thesis analyses the early works of Icchokas Meras, one of the first authors to write about the Holocaust during the Soviet Union. To show how discourse of the Holocaust was controlled and constructed in the 1950s and 1960s, documents found in the archives of publishing houses and editorial offices of magazines are analysed. Combining the principles of textual criticism, the study of literary history, and the analysis of the poetics of the text, the works "Geltonas lopas" (1960), "Lygiosios trunka akimirką" (1963), and "Žemė visada gyva" (1963) are examined. The study also analyses typescripts of the mentioned texts which reveals the pre-publication process. Analysing unexamined archival sources, the paper proposes a new interpretation of early Meras' works. The research revealed how the USSR's World War II narrative and the positive hero characteristic of socialist realism undermined and suppressed the suffering of Jewish people.
