Observing the globalizing Europe and the changing linguistic situation in the countries of this continent, it is important to assess the social value of dialect in Lithuania. In order to get a broader picture of a linguistic region, it is necessary to study not only the dialectal characteristics of the speakers, but also their linguistic attitudes. The aim of this study is to investigate the linguistic attitudes of the inhabitants of Skapiškis and to determine the level of vitality of the dialect of the Eastern Aukstaitian Kupiskenai dialect at this point on the dialect map. In order to achieve the research objective, semi-structured interviews were conducted with the inhabitants of Skapiškis between September and November 2023. The participants were 11 people, 5 men and 6 women, ranging in age from 49 to 91 years (M = 65.8, SD = 13). The analysis of the data showed that the Skapiškis (LKA 176) is an endangered point. The residents' linguistic attitudes reflected a low potential for dialect continuity. This study may be of interest to other researchers conducting sociolinguistic research.
