Stories that Take You Places: A Mobile App for the GLBT History Museum
Abstract
dc:description.abstract
My capstone project will outline a strategy to build and fund a mobile app for the GLBT History Historical Society and Museum. The institution's mission is to "collect, preserve, and interpret the history of GLBT people of the communities that support them."1 Although the GLBT Historical Society was founded in the mid-1980s, the Museum was opened in 2010. Currently, the Museum leases its space in San Francisco's Castro District from the owning Walgreens chain. Because the organization is so small and the space may be in threat of moving, it is important for the Museum to reach outside its walls and into the community. A mobile app would be an exciting and engaging tool to fulfill the needs and assist in the future progress of the GLBT Historical Society and Museum.
