Diseño interior de un Centro de Entretenimiento Nocturno y Hospedaje Turístico queer en el edificio “El Dorado” en Lince, Lima

El proyecto responde a la carencia de espacios inclusivos para la comunidad LGBTQ+ en Lima, donde el 80 % de sus miembros no percibe lugares seguros y el 70 % ha sufrido acoso en discotecas convencionales (Vargas, 2020; Instituto Nacional de Estadística e Informática [INEI], 2022). La oferta actual se limita a bares y discotecas donde persisten prácticas discriminatorias (Every LGBT, s.f.; QLIST, s.f.). Frente a ello, se propone recuperar el Edificio El Dorado, construido en 1967, como un espacio que visibilice y dignifique a la comunidad LGBTQ+ mediante la creación de una discoteca queer en el primer nivel —aprovechando su doble altura y acceso independiente— y un hotel turístico en los pisos superiores, dirigido a personas de 19 a 29 años, considerados el grupo etario más activo y representativo del consumo de ocio nocturno en la actualidad (Ministerio de Salud del Perú [MINSA], 2022). En un radio de 0,23 km existen más de 200 locales de entretenimiento sin oferta específica para el público queer (Gestión, 2024). Además, el turismo LGBTQ+ crece globalmente a un ritmo del 10 % anual y presenta un poder adquisitivo superior al promedio (Infobae, 2025; Organización Mundial del Turismo [OMT], 2017), lo que representa una oportunidad para atraer visitantes nacionales e internacionales. El plan conserva elementos estructurales originales e incorpora medidas de seguridad (Comité Distrital de Seguridad Ciudadana de Lince, 2020). Se proyecta un impacto social, urbano y económico (OMT, 2017), consolidando un espacio cultural referente que celebre la diversidad con espectáculos drag y eventos temáticosThe project addresses the lack of inclusive spaces for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and queer (LGBTQ+) people in Lima, given the problem where 80% of its members do not perceive safe places and 70% have suffered harassment in conventional nightclubs (Vargas, 2020; National Institute of Statistics and Informatics [INEI], 2022)Likewise, it responds to the lack of inclusive spaces for the LGBTQ+ population in Lima, which is currently mostly limited to conventional bars and nightclubs where situations of harassment and discrimination persist (Every LGBT, s. f.; QLIST, n.d.). The 17-story El Dorado Building, underutilized since its construction in 1967, is propo sed as the site of a queer nightclub on its first level - taking advantage of the double height and independent access - and a tourist hotel on the upper floors, oriented to young adults aged 19 to 29, a demographic group identified as the driving force behind nightlife consumption (Peruvian Ministry of Health [MINSA], 2022). The spatial diagnosis identifies more than 200 entertainment venues within a radius of 0.23 km, but with no offer targeted to queer audiences (Gestión, 2024). LGBTQ+ tourism is growing globally at a rate of 10 % annually, with purchasing power above the average traveler (Infobae, 2025; World Tourism Organization [UNWTO], 2017), un derscoring the opportunity to attract national and international visitors if adequate infrastructure is provided. The intervention plan preserves structural elements (arcade system and curtain wall), adds a mezzanine and reinforces critical points, preserving the original materiality. Security measures-adequate lighting, access control and surveillance-are incorpo rated to mitigate the proximity to high-crime areas (Comité Distrital de Seguridad Ciudadana de Lince, 2020). Social (safe and inclusive space), urban (revitalization of an architectural landmark), and economic (employment generation in tourism and entertainment) impacts are expected (UNWTO, 2017). Finally, the project promises a significant social contribution by generating a safe and inclusive space for the LGBT+ community, an urban impact through the restoration of an architectural landmark, and an economic boost through the generation of employment in tourism, hospitality and entertainment (UNWTO, 2017). Likewise, it is expected that the queer nightclub and the hotel will become a cultural reference for artistic performances such as drag shows and themed events, consolidating Lince as an LGBTQ+ friendly destination in the Peruvian capital
