Response of the CHS gene family to the pathogen Pseudomonas syringae was studied in leaves of the cultivar Williams (ii) that suppresses CHS expression in the seed coats. Interestingly, significant accumulation of CHS7/CHS8 transcripts, and even higher levels of CHS1 and CHS3 were observed.
