Restructuring the Indian Health Service: An Example of Consensus Policy-Making
Abstract
dc:descriptionUnlike the traditional American governing style of resolving policy issues through a majority rule process, the adoption of the IHDT recommendations followed the traditional Indian governing style of full consensus. This process is significant in that it defines a new paradigm for joint decision-making as the relationship between the tribes the federal government enters the new millennium.
