The Black Church and African -American Youth: The Black Church as a Socializing Institution for African -American Male Youth Living in Low -Income Communities
Abstract
dc:descriptionThe results provided evidence demonstrating some of the key roles played by the Black church in poor African-American communities. Specifically, the results suggested that the increased involvement of male youth in church-sponsored activities is associated with the number of Educational Definers to whom youth are exposed and that the church affords access to positive models beyond youths' immediate neighborhood.
