Women veterans: The awareness of sexual assault trauma and psychological resources

Abstract

dc:description

Sexual assault against women has been a long-standing issue in the military. Moreover, women have not reported incidents because of their lack of awareness about military resources to support them. The purpose of this qualitative study was to identify if women veterans were aware of the psychological resources available to them through the military in the case of sexual assault trauma. The findings in the study support that female veterans had little awareness of sexual assault resources available to them while in the military. Theoretical reflections and further implications of the study are discussed.
