Localization of FC Receptors on Murine Spermatozoa.

Studies on the localization of acrosomal enzymes have shown that a heat stable component in non-immune serum binds to the acrosomal region of spermatozoa of a number of species (Weil and Finkler, 1959; Edwards, 1960). Beck et al. (1962) demonstrated by immunofluorescent techniques that this serum component is an immunoglobulin molecule and it can bind to both the acrosome and tail region of homologous and heterologous spermatozoa. Symons and Herbert (1971) characterized it as IgG in the mouse, while Johnson (1968) showed it to be IgG2 in the guinea pig. IgM and IgA do not show detectable binding to mammalian spermatozoa (Allen and Bourne, 1978).
