Assessment of State-Dependent Learning Effects Produced by Marijuana in Human Subjects.

Dissociative or state-dependent learning refers to a phenomenon characterized by a decrement in the retrieval of previously learned information when a special state present during acquisition is subsequently altered. This change in state is generally produced by a drug administered to the subject, and the decrement may range from partial to total impairment of retrieval. When the "special state" present during acquisition is reinstated, retrieval occurs as usual.
