The Relationship Between Visual Impairments and Socioeconomic Level Based on a Preschool Vision Screening Program.
Abstract
dc:description.abstractThe physiological, educational and psychosocial development of children is closely related to adequate visual functioning. Uncorrected visual defects can lead to more serious ocular damage. The distorted sensory information may hinder educational achievement as some 80 percent of learning occurs through the visual mode (Sherman, 1972), and inaccurate perception of one’s environment and the resulting inability to interact appropriately in educational and other social situations may result in psychosocial damage.
