Structural variation of wall teichoic acid affects colonization, virulence, and evolution of Staphylococcus epidermidis

Abstract

The study of WTA structural variations and the discovery of novel phages not only pave the way to elucidate the mechanism of staphylococci evolution but also provide new targets for antibiotics and vaccines fighting against pathogenic staphylococci.
