Interpreting J. S. Bach’s Italian Concerto (BWV 971): A Comparative Study of Various Recordings and Editions

Abstract

dc:description.abstract

In this document, I will present an in-depth look at one of the major piano master works, J. S. Bach’s Italian Concerto (BWV 971). I would like to compare four outstanding performances by well-known concert pianists (Angela Hewitt, Glenn Gloud, Andras Schiff, and Rosalyn Tureck) and evaluate three scholarly editions (Henle, Schirmer, and Alfred) in order to come up with some pedagogical suggestions for this music.
