Searching for an answer is a universal living experience. Searching for an answer entails challenge and consideration when relating with persons and situations. Searching for an answer involves imagination and uncertainty. The purposes of this study were to discover the structure of the living experience of searching for an answer, add to the unique body of knowledge by expanding human becoming theory and nursing science, and surface the importance of searching for an answer Xo health and quality of life for persons living with limited resources. This study was grounded inhuman becoming theory utilizing the Parse research method study to examine the responses of ten participants to determine the answer to the research question: What is the structure for the living experience of searching for an answer? The processes of dialogical engagement, extraction-synthesis, and heuristic interpretation were used to uncover the structure. Four concepts emerged and were named bewildering contemplation, unease-ease, disparate affiliations, and enduring amid the arduous. The answer to the research question is searching for an answer is bewildering contemplation emerging with the unease-ease of disparate affiliations while enduring amid the arduous. Contributions for this study include new knowledge for human becoming theory and nursing science, new and deepened understanding of searching for an answer related to health and quality of life, new research opportunities, and implications for nursing practice.
