The Effects of Removing Physical Restraints from the Elderly in a Nursing Home

<p>Objectives of the study are to:<br> 1. Describe the frequency of serious and non-serious falls that occur among elderly nursing-home residents with dementia during the pre- assessment and post-physical restraint removal time period.<br> 2. Describe the frequency of serious and non-serious falls among the levels of dementia in the elderly as determined by the Clinical Dementia Rating Scale during the pre-assessment and the post physical restraint removal time period.<br> 3. Describe the ability to perform activities of daily living among the elderly with various levels of dementia as determined by the Modified Barthel Index during the pre-assessment and the post-physical restraint removal time period.</p>
