ABSTRACT TEACHING BIBLICAL MEDITATION AS A MEANS TO PRAYER TO STUDENTS OF WELCH COLLEGE, NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE Barry Glendon Raper, D.Min. The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, 2013 Faculty Supervisor: Dr. Donald S. Whitney This project sought to educate and engage college students in the spiritual disciplines with special focus on the twin disciplines of meditation and prayer. Chapter 1 introduces the context of Welch College and provides the rationale for the project. Chapter 2 examines the biblical and theological basis for meditation in the Old and New Testaments. Chapter 3 focuses on the link between meditation and prayer with special emphasis on George Mueller. Chapter 4 provides the reader with a look at what actually took place within the project. Chapter 5 evaluates the project and gives theological and personal reflections.
