Teaching and Improving Family Worship at the Military Chapel, Parris Island, South Carolina

This project addresses the subject of teaching and improving family worship in the military chapel at Parris Island, South Carolina. Chapter 1 defines the purpose and goals of the project and describes the ministry context. Chapter 2 provides the biblical and theological foundation for the subject of family worship. Passages from the Old and New Testaments in the genres of command, narrative, wisdom literature, poetry, gospel, and epistle are explained. Chapter 3 presents the theoretical and sociological issues of family worship. The historical understanding of family worship as well as contemporary recommendations are included. Chapter 4 lists the specific method used to carry out the project including sermon topics and additional material used to explain and assist families in worship. The research instruments and mentor questions are also covered. Chapter 5 is an evaluation of the project including strengths, weaknesses, and personal and theological reflections.
